The Indie Stone announced the release of Build 42 Unstable via their Discord and Steam platforms yesterday afternoon. For those interested in participating in the Unstable release you can enable it via the beta opt in properties in the Steam client. The official patch message also walks you through the process on their website, which you can take a look at, here.
Word to the wise, Unstable builds are typically a test scenario. It’s great to get a glimpse at what might be to come, but it doesn’t come without some possible interruptions to game play, saved worlds, stability, and other well, Unstable shenanigans.
Our group has participated in quite a few over the years, and I imagine we will in more to come. It’s just a good idea to keep those things in mind going in. It’s not uncommon to have to start over after an update, a game breaking bug, etc… I would suggest you take a look at the official message linked above. I only listed the ‘Important’ parts of the release below, and there is more to look at on their website. 🙂
Build 42 Unstable is now available to play!
Important
- Those who play Unstable must be aware that they’re playing a work in progress.
- This Unstable exists so we can collect player feedback to find bugs and improve our game. Some key features, primarily multiplayer, are initially disabled – they will be re-enabled later.
- Build 41 saves and mods are NOT compatible with Build 42.
- There will be bugs and annoyances, and game balance will likely be way from perfect, particularly with the zombie distribution and combat changes.
- Your saves may break after Unstable updates.
