No Man’s Sky: Holiday Expeditions 2025 6.17

Games News

Hello Games announced the release of the Holiday Expeditions 2025 6.17 update for No Man’s Sky via their Discord and Website today. You can warp on over to their website for an official view of the message, here.

At a quick glance the majority of the fixes look to be some great improvements. I even noted some work on the Linux side of things in the patch notes! That makes me a really happy, Hobbit indeed!

Several of us have recently set aside time to put in some game play in No Man’s Sky! Quite a few of us even managed to complete the Beachhead Expedition before it ended! As a matter of fact, you can see a bit about our NMS adventures over the weekend in the latest, Hobbit Plays post, here.

It is no secret that No Man’s Sky still rests at the top of my favorite games. I’ve played it on and off over the course of a few years, although in a bit of irony, I haven’t dedicated as much time to this gem as I would like too. Eldon (my brother), was kind enough to gift the game too me a few years back. I loved it so much, I got a copy for Error (my son) and Kilen in hopes that they might join us in our space adventures.

They have a bit here and there, but it hasn’t been a game that held their attention for long periods of time. Much to the sadness of this Hobbit. Still, it is nice to get a chance every now and then to game with all that are willing to play it, and chat about our bases, star ships, freighters, Capital Ship, and our strategies to optimize our adventuring and exploration of the unknown!

Since our recent foray into NMS again, I’ve started dedicated at least a little time here and there. I’ve even managed to login a bit before my work day started. There are some automated processes I could let run in the background, and I might just start that some here and there. I’ve recently encountered an infuriating bug with refiners. It seems I could let those run, while I stand near them and move through my work day. Some of those processes take some decent amounts of time, and standing there waiting for them to finish while you play is excruciating. I can’t understand why a game that has been out for so long, and is so advanced still has such a troublesome bug!? I should be able to put things in the refiner, hop around working on other things, and come back to my base or Capital Ship with my goods still intact!?

In any case, I still love this game. Explore well, and often, Travelers! -Hobbit
