It took me a couple days, but I did manage to get back to my FF7 run. I managed to finish up the Shinra Headquarters, made it to Kalm, walked through a bit of the story line, and started grinding battles around the Midgar / Kalm area to get some Gil built up to purchase a bit more gear and materia. I also took the liberty to create another ‘off save’ so I can start outside of Midgar at any point, should I decide to make future attempts at the game. I have perform a local backup of my Final Fantasy VII saves as well. Hopefully in the event that an experiment goes wrong, and I find myself reloading my PC, I’ll at least have that to fall back on.
The sheer volume of memories this game brings to the front, is hard to explain. The graphics are certainly dated, but it’s hard to explain how it takes me back to some far more simpler times. I have no doubts that a completion of the game will probably take me longer than it should (if I get there), but I am definitely hopeful to see this game come to some closure for me at last. Ironically, I’ve managed to avoid any spoilers in terms of the final battles, and the little bit of information I had on the Ultimate Weapons, I’ve forgotten now at this point as well. It’s an adventure, I’m looking forward too. Scheduling with gaming with my wife, and gaming group has proved to be interesting, but I feel like I could certainly make time here and there to try a few of the fantastic solo games I have in my library. Here is hope that I can manage the time wisely enough!
