I took some time off work this week to bring in the New year! As such, Qvaid and I had some extended gaming sessions on Tuesday evening, Wednesday, and Thursday. We played late for all of those days to take full advantage of my having the time off!
It was chalked full of fun, laughs, and incredible adventures per the status quo! I am a blessed Hobbit indeed to have a wife (Qvaid) that loves to game almost as much as I do!
We did manage some pretty neat multi-player gaming sessions in No Man’s Sky as well. I took a break from the Breach Expedition I was running to walk Iron through the first phase and to dip his toes into the vast exploration that NMS has too offer. Kilen even joined us for a bit.
Iron and SoSirius actually paid us a visit several times in Discord and No Man’s Sky over the course of the weekend. I definitely enjoyed the camaraderie and chat in both Discord and NMS!
Kilen and I actually discussed Lord of the Rings: Return to Moria a bit in Discord. Mostly we were trying to figure out what happened to our previous attempt at playing the game. We decided we would be giving it another fair shot sometime soon, and as such we both picked up the Durin’s Folk DLC for Return to Moria.
I already took the liberty of informing our groups in case anyone else might have a slight interest in taking on the role of a lost dwarf in the Mines of Moria! In truth, I’m quite looking forward too it myself, albeit, I need to find a balance where I can still get my No Man’s Sky time into my schedule!
Game long, my friends. Game hard.

Highlights

Days played: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday
Players: Qvaid, Hobbit
Comments: On Monday evening, Qvaid and I powered our way through several more runs of Spells & Secrets. We managed to defeat the Prince during two of the runs (might have been a total of 2.5). We did fail on one of the runs as we picked back up on the Estates, and I believe we failed on that run.
As the week progressed, Qvaid and I managed to finish up our play through of Spells & Secrets on Thursday evening. We collected all the potions, spells, characters, artefacts, and students.
While I suspect we could have more things to achieve or do, we decided we had our fill of what turned out to be a really great game. At least from our perspective in any case.
We really enjoyed playing Spells & Secrets together. The game mechanics were fairly interesting for me.
In truth, my favorite thing to do was use utility based spells to my advantage and generally allow Qvaid to Bombard them with fireballs, while I pelted the enemies with Magic Missile. I was also rather fond of using Telekinesis to push bosses into their own spells and effects where applicable.
All in all, Steam says we have something like 78 hours in total in Spells & Secrets. While a decent portion of that was likely during breaks (I’d estimate at least a good 8 hours in total), the game provided us with quite a few laughs, an incredible amount of fun, and some grand adventures!

Days played: Thursday
Players: Qvaid, Hobbit
Comments:After quite an extended wait, Qvaid and I finally picked up biped 2 during the Steam Winter Sale 2025.
I just so happened to take some time off work for New Year, so Thursday evening (later if I recall) after we completed our play through of Spells & Secrets, Qvaid settled on starting up biped 2.
And what a hilarious start we had! We certainly had to adjust to the controls again after so long away from the original biped.
We are still quite a bit early into our new adventures in biped 2, but I’m here to say, it has been a hilarious grand adventure thus far!
Don’t get me wrong, biped and biped 2 will certainly test your co-op partner patience levels, but I do fairly well I think. I mean, I dunno, maybe Qvaid might beg to differ?
In any case, Qvaid and I both were looking forward to the release, although at the time we were busy with other gaming adventures. With the Steam Winter Sale 2025, we made sure to go ahead and pick it up to prep for some adventures to come!
I suspect much like the original biped, the over all game play will be relatively short, but the laughs alone are definitely worth it to us.

Days played: All Week
Players: Aces, Iron, Kilen, SoSirius, Hobbit
Comments: Ah, what a grand bit of adventure in No Man’s Sky over the course of the week. With a bit more time off work than usual (New Year), I was able to accomplish a bit over the week days before either work started (Monday and Tuesday) or before Qvaid and I started our gaming sessions.
Iron and SoSirius graced us with their presence over the weekend. That was certainly a nice bit of conversation and adventure in its own right!
Iron decided to dip his toes into No Man’s Sky via a HARD MODE introduction with no previous NMS experience and diving right into none other than the Breach Expedition!? Sadly, while he hopped into Discord a bit more over the course of the weekend, he didn’t really continue that journey to my knowledge at least any further while we were on at least.
Kilen and I both managed to complete the Breach Expedition. Kilen, much earlier than I to be fair. I had an awful time finding the Brood and Titan Worm Burrows… I mean when I’m trying to avoid those things they are every where!? When I need them… nada!
I finished up the weekend on Sunday evening, but removing parts from 2 of the 3 Corvette star ships I have, trading them to a NPC, and scrapping their ships to be rid of them. I choose to keep the one with the most storage that I got from the Corvette Expedition and build from it. In a bit of irony, I spent the greater part of later Sunday evening working on a ship that I thought I loved the design of.
As it turns out, I hate it. Back…to…the…drawing…board. LOL, ah well, they can’t all be grand masterpieces, am I right!?
