Hobbit Plays: 11.24.25 – 11.30.25

Hobbit Plays News

Even with the rocky start of the Fedora 43 updates I ran into over the previous weekend, this week turned out to be an amazing set of adventures in gaming for me! The update issue was resolved by late evening on Monday. I noted some pending before I was turning in, and while I didn’t do much testing, I did run them with the intent on seeing how things looked for Tuesday morning. I was ecstatic to find that the Mesa 25.2.7.2-3 updates that were pushed through resolved my update woes!

Our families had a grand Thanksgiving celebration on Thursday at my sisters house. We all gathered for some great food and good times! By later on Thursday evening, we were all packing up to make the trek home. Error and the family crashed at our place since their drive was quite a bit further back up to their home roughly an hour away from ours.

I hope everyone else had a great holiday with their friends and families as well!

In a bit of another ironic situation, The Quinfall is in the honorable mentions list this week. The amount of time I played over the course of the week was only on Monday prior to starting my work day. I thought Kilen and I would play some over the weekend, but Aces, Eldon, and Error were available for either a bit of game time or chat here and there. Since none of them play The Quinfall, Kilen and I didn’t make it to any weekend gaming sessions for the MMO this week. This aside from the fact that I haven’t been in the mood to grind resources, and the caravan runs while lucrative are quite a bit of dedication. I mean you spend some decent coin to start them, and if you don’t dedicate the 2+ hours to complete them, you lose the lot.

“To Infinity & Beyond!” – Now I was absolutely thrilled with the majority of the game sessions this week/weekend. I had some great times playing Lego Harry Potter Collection with Qvaid over the course of the week. We even managed some later night gaming sessions because of the holiday! The No Man’s Sky sessions were such a pleasure for me as well! I absolutely love that game, and it was awesome to get to chat about it with the gang while we were roaming around the cosmos completing quests, exploring, and scanning to my hearts content.

We even managed to hop into my corvette ship and work on a Nexus mission together for a bit. We had already completed the big weekend mission, and there didn’t seem to be a lot of interest in any other missions, since we only did the ones that award Quicksilver. Even still, I was enthralled with the adventures, and I made some incredible progress on getting to the Atlantid Drive for my star ship and Freighter. I explored my first purple star system outside of an expedition, and now I can find many more with the technologies installed in my starship and Freighter!

Highlights

Days played: Monday, Tuesday,

Players: Qvaid, Hobbit

Comments: On Monday evening, Qvaid and I managed to complete Year 5, The Order of the Phoenix in the Lego Harry Potter series we are playing through. This unlocked the free play versions of those stages, although we’ve decided to continue with the story for now.

We noted a mechanic we didn’t see present in Years 1 – 4 where you can purchase new spells!? That gives Years 5 – 7 a bit of a new feature we were certainly not expecting!

We finished up the evening closing out Year 5, and hope to be ready to start Year 6, The Halfblood Prince on Tuesday, if scheduling works out!

Over the course of the remainder of the weekdays we had left, Qvaid and I managed to complete Year 6 and Year 7, and by later in the evening on Thursday, we were starting the ‘Free Play’ versions of the stages. I suspect we will have to unlock some characters to gain access to everything in general, but we are well on our way to collecting the studs, character tokens, House Crests, etc…

Days played: Saturday

Players: Eldon, Error, Kilen, Hobbit

Comments: Later in the evening on Saturday, we all jumped into R.E.P.O for a bit of adventure.

I had to stall a bit to turn off the camera animations, and adjust the pixel settings a bit. The head bob on the camera animations was making me sick, and the changes they made to the pixel settings were just not quite to my liking.

Ultimately, while we had a good bit of fun in R.E.P.O, we didn’t have any success in passing any stages. Over time, we all came to our untimely deaths from the minions of our scrap collections.

As always, however, it was certainly good for some laughs and great adventures!

Days played: Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday

Players: Aces, Eldon, Error, Kilen, Hobbit

Comments: With the update issues and some testing on Monday, I didn’t really find any time to hop into NMS.

Through out the week days, I did get some time in before my work day started. During those times, I do things that are a bit less automated, like exploring, scanning flora, fauna, and minerals, etc… During work hours, if I have the game up, I’m usually just standing in a base refining materials or something of that nature.

The weekend was quite productive for several of us! Error got his first Dreadnaught Freighter ship, and managed to find another up to a B class. He continued searching a bit here and there as the weekend progressed, but if he found another higher class freighter, I wasn’t aware of it before the weekend came to a close.

Kilen and I started the Autophage quest lines, and managed to effectively complete that. We moved on to the In Stellar Multitudes, and finished that up later in the day on Sunday before Kilen had to call it early. I finished out the night by completing a Discovery star system I had a temporary outpost on.

I had an absolute blast playing NMS through out the week/weekend as scheduling allowed!
