Hobbit Plays: 11.03.25 – 11.09.25

Games Hobbit Plays News

The schedule this week was a bit off, albeit not much. Error was off this weekend. For the first time in what seems like an age, he was able to join us for some gaming! And game we did my friends! Game we did!

Kilen and I slipped in a bit of The Quinfall here and there when we could, but as I stated in the highlights, the majority of that was just daily routines, and grinding to pass time while we waited for others to be ready to game.

The weekly gaming with Qvaid was amazing as always, and we were sure to set aside time to watch our shows. Qvaid and I also managed a visit to see Error (our son) and the family on Saturday, which had the gaming festivities starting a bit later than it would normally for me on a Saturday. It was a blast, and the excitement on the grand kids faces to see us show up was worth every precious moment!

Over all, the week and weekend of gaming were still an amazing time! Chalked full of laughs, adventures, and incredible times! Even with the scheduling a bit out of the norm, you’ll notice quite a bit of fun listed in the Highlights! I’m a bit taken aback by just how much we were able to squeeze into the weekend!

It so happens, in my haste to post last week’s Hobbit Plays, I missed an Honorable Mention. R.E.P.O should have actually had a spot in the Honorable mentions last week, but I missed it. I was going to include it this week, but since Error was off, we managed to get in at least a few sessions of game play for R.E.P.O in the Highlights as it were.

Game long, my friends. Game hard.

Highlights

Days played: Monday

Players: Qvaid, Hobbit

Comments: Qvaid and I played Dysmantle on and off through out the entirety of the day on Monday. As I mentioned prior, after the CliffCon festivities, I took a few extra days off work to unwind and this allows us a few solid days of extra gaming time/time together.

We worked through all the remaining quests we had in Dysmantle, explored, and completed the remaining areas of The Doomsday and The Pet Island expansions. At this point, we have cleared all areas, albeit, not quite to a 100% level. Very late in the evening/early morning of Tuesday, Qvaid decided she was ready to finish Dysmantle.

We loaded up the escape pod with mana chunks, shards, orbs, and beads, fought off a horde of bunker zombies, and eventually left the island in the escape pod. Thus we have completed all of the expansions and the main game in Dysmantle.

Qvaid said, she might be interested in heading back to Dysmantle to see about a 100% completion, but for now, she was ready to move on to another game.

For now, this concludes our adventures in Dysmantle, which you can also read a bit more about, here, should you be interested.

Days played: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday

Players: Hobbit

Comments: Monday – Wednesday mostly consisted of just logins to The Quinfall, collecting my daily reward and a bit of some caravan runs. Qvaid and I were gaming the majority of those days since I was off work, and I was trying to prevent any more disruptions to our gaming sessions, as it were.

I mean we had interruptions of course, given we both have things we need to do on a daily basis, but my intent was to mostly run caravans when I knew we’d have a decent amount of time between gaming sessions.

Thursday morning, I was back into the regular routine before work started with some caravan runs here and there in the background as scheduling allowed. Vacation was officially over, and I had the work day to start at my usual time afterwards.

I’ll have to admit, this weekend was a bit of an odd one in The Quinfall for me, likely for Kilen as well.

Error was able to join us for a bit of gaming this weekend, so we decided to mostly play other things since Error doesn’t seem quite as fond of The Quinfall as Kilen and I do.

The majority of the weekend for Kilen and I both consisted of daily board quests, tending to the live stock, perhaps a bit of farming or gathering, and logging off to play other games with the gang while they were both willing and available!

Days played: Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday

Players: Qvaid, Hobbit

Comments: On Tuesday, Qvaid and I embarked on our the start of our adventure with Lego Harry Potter Collection series. We started where one should start with years 1 – 4, and were off to the grand Lego version of the story!

Wednesday, had a bit more interruptions than usual with chores taking priority, but Qvaid and I still managed at least a few great sessions, and played until our usual time late into the evening. We managed to keep a decent track on time, so we also got into bed at a decent hour.

Normally that isn’t much of an issue, but Thursday morning would be the first day back at work for me since Thursday of last week, and I move at the pace of a snail in the mornings. At least until that first cup of coffee hits!

Thursday evening, Qvaid and I were back into the adventures of Harry Potter and the gang in Lego Harry Potter again. We managed to finish up years 2 and 3 (or maybe it was just 3), and we started some of year 4. I suspect the game could be relatively short if you really wanted it to be, although we have plans to go back through some of the areas as abilities unlock and to get things we missed as scheduling allows. We finished out the night on a good note, just completing part of the 4th year, Goblet of Fire.

Days played: Saturday

Players: Eldon, Error, Kilen, Hobbit

Comments: R.E.P.O is definitely a fun piece of work! Error and I were met with some of the new monsters added to R.E.P.O while we were away. Eldon and Kilen had already encountered most (if not all) of them by this point.

Still, we managed to beat stage 16, and had some fairly valiant attempts at stage 17. Sadly, those attempts were not quite as successful as our triumph through 16!

All that said, I have to add, while I find R.E.P.O to be a great game, it is not one I particularly enjoy playing for extremely long periods of time. The play style is one I prefer more in short spells. Perhaps a couple hours at most.

I can’t explain why that is necessarily, I chalk it up to games like Friday the 13th The Game, Dead by Daylight, etc… Those are games I enjoy too, albeit, not for very long sessions at a time.

I like to play them for a couple hours, then move on to something else to finish out the day/night.

Days played: Saturday, Sunday

Players: Eldon, Error, Kilen, Hobbit

Comments: Technically speaking, Eldon didn’t join us for the foray into DRG on Saturday when Error, Kilen, and I started a session. We did try to convince him too, but he held out for more R.E.P.O sessions, and than called it a night as the exhaustion of the day caught up to him.

Error, Kilen, and I fired up DRG after a few failed R.E.P.O runs, and my what a treat it was to be roaming around those space rocks back on my Dwarven miner with my friends!

On Sunday, Error managed to talk Eldon into giving the game a try. I mean Eldon already had it in his library, all he had to do was install, play, and enjoy!

And that he did my gaming friends! That he did! All 4 of us had a fantastic time working through missions and showing Eldon the ropes of what it means to be a dwarven space miner! ROCK AND STONE! ROCK AND STONE!

As the Sunday evening was coming to a close, Eldon and Error both called it quite early, and Kilen and I continued to work on the Halloween Mission Quest we found at the assignment board! We also managed to complete said mission and racked up those Halloween rewards.

In truth, I would have loved to worked through the secondary mission so I could nab the head gear from the previous years, but alas, time was running short for me as well, and I had to call it shortly after we completed the ‘primary mission’.
