Hobbit Plays: 10.13.25 – 10.19.25

Hobbit Plays News

Here we are, the end of another week of fantastic gaming! I bit off a bit more than I could chew over the weekend, and by Sunday evening, I was exhausted. I ended up calling it far earlier than I typically would for Sunday, over all though, I felt like the adventures and time spent was certainly worth it!

Our Munchkin (Daughter) came to visit on Sunday evening for some dinner and to catch up on conversation. That was certainly pleasant as well. Not long after she left and got back home safely, I was crawling into the bed to call it for the weekend.

I did miss out on some gaming sessions Sunday evening for R.E.P.O with Eldon and Kilen. By the time I got back to my desk Sunday evening, it was pushing close to 8 PM CST. I decided before I even headed back that I was going to wrap it up. It just so happened that I noted Eldon and Kilen had moved to a bit of R.E.P.O in the process.

I had returned to my desk to shut down my PC and to let them know I’d have to bow out for the evening as sleep was calling. When I say I was asleep within minutes of letting them know I was done for the day, I mean it was literal minutes. I was snoozing before Qvaid even managed to get to bed!

Even still, I had a blast as usual, and certainly no regrets. I did end up catching up a bit on the ole sleep with that final sacrifice of game time.

Game long, my friends. Game hard.

Highlights

Days played: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday

Players: Qvaid, Hobbit

Comments: Qvaid and I started off the week with some decent progress in Dysmantle! We are walking through areas on The Island gathering resources, completing quests, and finishing up things we missed on our initial pass through. Things like teleporters, ruins, fishing spots, mana rifts, etc…

Our plan thus far is to continue with that form of progression as we earn new recipes, gear, and abilities. We are also leveling quite nicely as it were. As we logged out on Monday evening, we were fast approaching level 80 in the game!

Tuesday evening, Qvaid and I continued our progress in The Island area and managed to get a decent bit of work done before it was time to call it for the night. We finished up a quest, got a couple cooking recipes (one of which helped with Cold Protection, which has been a bit of a problem), and found a new pet. As we were calling it for the night, we believe we cleared the area we were in of anything else to gather or do, although there is still parts of the map to uncover and the sonar transmitters don’t appear to show you everything from what we’ve gathered. Maybe we’ll continue with that before moving on to another area and exploring more to our hearts content!

Due to scheduling on Wednesday evening, Qvaid and I got a bit of a late start with our gaming sessions. Fret not though, we still managed to get some progression on the books! We played a bit later than we typically would for a work day, but nothing so much so that I wasn’t able to get up on time, and get right too it on Thursday morning. Even with the scheduling fiasco, we did manage to have a good bit of fun and surprisingly a decent bit of progression as we trek through the wastelands of The Island.

Thursday evening, Qvaid and I got a somewhat early start on our Dysmantle adventures! We have cleared all but the obelisks from several of the areas on the main content of The Island. We even managed some progression on the DLC Pet Island to a bit of an extent as well. Including a few new pets, and a pet that helps with Cold Protection! As the week came to a close (as far as our base schedule goes in any case) much later than intended Thursday night, we have made some really good strides in progression. Albeit, it’s more so as if we might be attempting to 100% the game.

I suspect that would be quite a big task indeed, but who knows, we are having quite a bit of fun, and Qvaid seems to be really interested in clearing everything out as well!

Could Dysmantle be the second game we completely 100%!?

Days played: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday

Players: Eldon, Kilen, Hobbit

Comments: Monday through Thursday was much of the same for me. Logging in before work to get some trade skill, gathering, quests, etc… done. I did leave it up on occasion during work hours to just auto-fish or let things finish up at work benches I started before starting my work day.

Kilen and I both are still really enjoying the game, even though there are certainly some changes we don’t necessarily agree with from the devs/company that runs the game.

I’m curious if we managed to get Eldon’s attention towards it a bit more. I noted later Monday evening, both Eldon and Kilen were in The Quinfall as I was getting ready to start my gaming session in Dysmantle with Qvaid.

It can certainly be a challenging game, and I know Eldon does love a good challenge. Maybe he’ll come around just yet!?

Over the course of the week, I didn’t see any announcements about the change, however concerning the Token Exchange, the over all numbers were dialed back considerably. I mean, it is still not enough for me to partake of the system at a whooping 180 – 300 of each material. But at least it shows the devs are listening to player feedback some what.

Eldon did join Kilen and I over the course of the weekend a few times for some dungeon crawls! Kilen and I hit those dungeons fairly hard over the course of the weekend days! It was a blast!

Qvaid was over at a friends house all weekend, returning on Sunday, so I put in some time in The Quinfall this weekend! To a point where, I ended up crashing out early Sunday evening. I stayed up way too late Friday and Saturday, and it took a toll on me by Sunday evening.

No regrets though, it was truly some fun times at least in my opinion. I got the best of all the gaming sessions. Dungeon crawls and comradery during the gaming sessions with Eldon and Kilen, and then grinding sessions to gather the much needed resources after they called it.

Granted, that is how I ended up so exhausted by Sunday evening. I still stand by the fact that I thought it was fun. I crank up some music and just gather away for hours on end.

I’m not entirely sure just how much Eldon is warming up to The Quinfall, but it certainly appears to be wearing on him at least a bit the more he learns about the game.
