This week was chalked full of all kinds of gaming experience goodness! Quite the list of players over all. I have to admit the most we’ve had all together in some time now. We’ve had several drop off the radar a bit, a few have returned, and a few are still missing. Ultimately, it is just the way things go for us gaming adults. You play when you can play. Sometimes you are lucky and the game play is bountiful. Other times you don’t have the time to spare to game near as much as you want and finally, sometimes you just have to take a break for whatever the reason may be. This is the definition of good friends. You can come back and pick back up where you left off like you were never missing. We are all those kinds of friends. This weekend was a blast! Looking forward to the possibility that the gang might finally be back on track! 🙂
To those NH’ers out there still missing.
“Should you need us, for any reason at all?”
Days played: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday
Players: Qvaid, Hobbit
Comments: On Monday evening, my wife and I sat down for a fantastic gaming session in CoM! We managed to complete the dungeons of Barahut, and started the TerraLava dungeons. Quite a bit of grinding between the completed content and the new content we started. Sadly, our run through TerraLava started a bit rocky, and ended on another lost as we called it for the night. We did, however, managed a decent amount of upgrades via Uncle Ben’s shop, and we have plenty of treats to give to animals in the animal shelter for some possible buffs, should we find that to be a necessity!
Tuesday evening was also quite an experience for my wife and I! We managed to complete all of TerraLava and free Anai-Sarava! This appears to have opened either the dungeon leading to the Mountain God, Ou, or perhaps the ability to face him. We didn’t attempt it because we had a quest in Barahut, and TerraLava we had not yet completed, and decided to work on that along with leveling up some more members of the family. We worked on Joey, Apan, Linda, Kevin, and Mark a bit. We have John and Lucy to a respectable level already. Other than that we managed to do some grinding and earn quite a few decent upgrades from Uncle Ben’s shop again.
Our Wednesday evening adventure, consisted mostly of more grinding through Barahut trying to find that blasted stone for Uncle Ben. We did manage a few upgrades, and rounded the levels out a bit more for several of the family members that were falling behind. They are still somewhat behind our ‘favorite’ combo of characters, but certainly a lot better off than they were!
After the gang called it on Friday evening (although a bit later than I expected), I asked my wife if she wanted to game some, and she was happy to oblige! We managed to finish up the remainder of the story for CoM, and got to see the credits roll. It was a grand adventure indeed!
Days played: Wednesday
Players: Family Time!
Comments: A family friend dropped by Wednesday evening, and we had a few games of Uno: No Mercy after dinner. In truth we did play another game of cards called: Spoons (similar to horse in basketball), where you are played out if you loose too many matches and spell ‘Spoons’. I chose to just go with the Uno image since it is how we started the night, and technically speaking the other card game we played is more so a ‘made-up’ kind of game for the most part. In the Uno: No Mercy several of the participants took to win. My son was the ultimate survivor in the game of Spoons. In any case, it was all a lot of fun and it appeared everyone had a great time!
Days played: Thursday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday
Players: Error, Kilen, Eldon, Hobbit
Comments: I was more than ready to hop into NMS on Thursday evening! Kilen had experimented with some quests from the Nexus, and so Error, Kilen, and myself headed to the Anomaly together to attempt one that would award us Quicksilver. The first attempt botched, but we managed to get it together for the second run. That particular quest took a bit longer than the first though, no doubt. Afterwards, Kilen handed me some Salvaged Frigate Modules and I was finally able to add the Materialization tech to my capital ship so I could access my vaults, storage, etc… granted I had my capital ship in the same system. I also managed to pick up some blue prints for some building types, some recipes for valuable items, and some blue prints for the exocrafts before I ran out of salvaged data to purchase them. I’m contemplating starting a ‘farming’ base on another planet / system, but I think I’m going to hold out until I get enough salvaged data to get more of the building plans so I can do a bit more than a box build. Everyone called it relatively early, albeit about the usual time for a Thursday night. My wife and I picked up on looking over some games in Steam, made a few purchases, and headed to bed shortly after completing that.
Several of us played NMS on and off through out the weekend, in between bouts of other games and regular scheduling. For the most part the majority of my time in NMS this weekend was exploring and organizing. I recently got all the base parts I needed for several sets, and I’m planning on building a decent sized head quarters in the near future. The process can take some time, and I did start the attempt later in the weekend, so I haven’t managed to deconstruct my Spicy Shire base just yet as I need a new HQ to setup my exocrafts. I did however, manage to figure out how to get the doors automated in the prefab bases, and I’ve since reconstructed to outpost bases: Spice Shire OP and Corrupted Shire OP on their respective planets!
Days played: Friday
Players: Error, Iron, Kilen, Hobbit
Comments: In what started from a story on some funny game moments, the group was all for a run or so of Serious Sam HD The First Encounter again. Another buddy of ours (SoSirius) picked up this gem some time ago, and we had a play through. We were working our way through the maps in what turned out to be a fairly extensive play through that night. It just so happened that we came to a door at some point that was trapped. He goes to open said door, and a gigantic red boxing glove pelts him across the room. Laughter certainly ensued! It was absolutely hilarious! He was even laughing about his misfortune! In any case, we had a total number of around 9 people interested in a possible play through on Friday night. I was fairly stoked about it, if I’m being honest. A group that large rolling through waves of insanity in SS sounded like an incredible amount of fun. As luck would have it, only 4 of us turned out for the event. In truth, I expected the list to dwindle a bit as scheduling for 9 adults can be task in and of itself. Alas, the 4 of us that did participate on Friday managed to have a good time rolling through the waves of monsters, aliens, and puzzles Serious Sam HD: The First Encounter has to offer!
Days played: Friday, Saturday
Players: Qvaid, Hobbit
Comments: Late Friday night, or was it early Saturday morning? In any case my wife and I started our next gaming adventure Friday night after we completed our play through of Children of Morta. We managed to move the progress a bit Friday, although it was a late start and eventually exhaustion started to set in for us both!
On Saturday we got another late start, and played into the early hours of Sunday morning. The game is an absolute master piece in turns of the co-op style, puzzles, beautiful scenery, and story. There isn’t much in the way of combat so far, and I have my doubts there will be, but it’s still a great game as far as my wife and I are concerned. We followed suite in terms of playing until we were exhausted on Saturday / early Sunday morning, and called it there for the weekend for the most part.
Comments: Before the 7 Days to Die version 1.0 gaming could begin, Iron and I had some server work we had to get in place to setup the 7 Days to Die server he hosts at his place. We got all that fixed up, and the group was off! We managed to have a total number of 6 players between several sets of gameplay on Saturday and Sunday! I did skip out the later part of Sunday evening as I got distracted with some NMS shenanigans, but it was certainly some great fun! I do love 7 Days to Die a lot! It’s been one of my favorite over all games for some time. The changes with version 1.0 have certainly been great thus far. Minus the water situation, I feel that is just an added level of absurdity that isn’t really needed, but I digress. I added 7 Days to Die to the NH Plays list, as I suspect unlike the Serious Sam HD The First Encounter, that this will just be the start of our 7DtD adventure!
