Hobbit Plays: 05.20.24 – 05.26.24

Hobbit Plays News

Most of the fam has been in recovery mode from the recent illnesses that hit the home the week before. As such the majority of things were coming into the normal routines. There was certainly much game play this week, which always makes this Hobbit a Happy Hobbit, indeed!

Days played: All week

Players: Hobbit

Comments: Yep. Summoners War to start all the days out again. I played it on and off through out as scheduling allowed per my typical day. I mean, it has auto farming, so why not!? Build teams, run dungeons until you are out of energy! I love the game, alright!? 🙂

On Friday, if memory serves me correctly, I managed to get a bit more of the Guild Siege battle done later in the evening, before we all got together to start the gaming session with the guys. Otherwise, it was just the typical SW shenanigans.

Days played: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday

Players: Qvaid, Hobbit

Comments: In a somewhat rarity of scheduling, my wife and I were able to tread through some Trine 5 adventures on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and even Thursday evening. Trine 5 has certainly presented some greater challenges than the previous games in the series! Even still, my wife and I are still enjoying the play through! Games like this do take patience, make no mistake! I tend to have my share of mishaps though, so it’s just easier for me to keep that in mind when I’m playing co-op with someone else. It is an amazing way to share some game time with someone!

Days played: Thursday, Friday

Players: Error, Hobbit

Comments: Kilen wasn’t available on Thursday evening for our Destiny 2 session. Liquidd was supposed to join us, but alas, he got tied up, and by the time he was going to be available, it was time to call it. We tend to call it a bit early on Thursday nights. Kilen and Error have work earlier in the mornings, so it just works out better in terms of scheduling if we don’t get silly with the time frames on Thursday evenings. Over all, Error and I (Hobbit) just rolled through some of the Lightfall campaign trying to get closer to earning Rank 7.

Kilen was still preoccupied with some things, and didn’t make it Friday evening. Error, Liquidd, and I started out with some Onslaught content until Liquidd had to take a break to run some errands. He never did make it back, and Error and I just moved to more Lightfall Campaign content, grinding away at the Rank 7 we’ve been working towards for a bit on and off. Granted it’s taking us a bit, but we are new to the game, unlike Liquidd and ultimately we’ve been taking our time in some cases. We’ll also need to run through it with Kilen when he manages to make it back to Destiny 2 at some point as well.

Days played: Saturday, Sunday

Players: Eldon, Error, Hobbit, Kilen

Comments: That’s right! A sudden change of pace! I adore NMS, but up until recently, I couldn’t get anyone in our typical gaming group to play it. Eldon (my brother) is the one that introduced it to me. As I mentioned in previous posts (and the Survival games page), NMS wouldn’t typically be a ‘go-to’ game for me. While I’ve always had at least a mild interest in space, it is rare I play games involving heavy sci-fi to any extent. NMS would certainly be the exception for me. When I was playing it quite awhile back, it was one of the rare times, where I was literally itching for the work day to come to a close so I could hop back on and explore new planets, fauna, flora, etc… It was also a game that my mother loved to watch me play on a regular basis. Granted it was in short spurts, but one of the few that she would frequently pull up a chair, ask questions, and watch me shoot across planets, the galaxies, etc… Now, on to how it came to be the game for Saturday. Error had plans earlier in the day. I checked Steam and Discord, and thought Kilen was playing Mount & Blade II. I was sitting there thinking what I should play, and finally decided on NMS. I knew I loved the game, I wanted to see what all had changed since I quit playing awhile back, and it seemed the perfect time as Liquidd was also MIA at the time. I already had it installed, mostly because my ‘plan’ was to play it casually as scheduling allowed, but its rare those come up. I logged into my last save and was off. I was having quite a bit of trouble remembering all the controls, concepts, etc… I thought to myself, you know what. I’m just going to start a new game. I mean, I knew I’d still enjoy it, why not!? It will help job my memory, and obviously it would still be quite a bit of fun. I did exactly that. Well, my scanner was down, and I couldn’t find my ship, but I was able to maintain my character’s life quite a bit better than my first start. Just find sodium for the hazard protection, and oxygen for life support. Eventually, I came across whatever was needed to repair my scanner, and this helped lead me back to my lost ship I was trying to repair to progress. Error came home, and seen what I was playing. He watched for a bit, and said he was loading the game back up. Shortly after, he was moving through the start of the game, and we were able to play multiplayer together a bit later in the day. Kilen finally hops into channel, and it turns out he’d been busy with some errands with his wife and had been away the majority of the day save for short spurts of M&B2 play here and there. He asked me to stream the game so he could look at it for a bit. I did so, and I’d estimate about 30 minutes later he was loading up NMS. After we were playing for awhile, I messaged Eldon (my brother), and let him know all three of us were in NMS! From there we progressed into a late night of game play for all of us! Everyone seemed to be having a great time, and given I love NMS so much, I was on top of the world!

On Sunday, a bit later in the day, after the friends and family had departed, Error, Kilen, Eldon, and I (Hobbit) all started some more NMS gameplay. We all logged a decent amount of time that evening, with several of us playing into the wee hours of Monday morning before exhaustion started to over come us one by one. It was certainly a grand adventure indeed, and I very much enjoyed getting to play a game I love so much with more friends and family!

Days played: Sunday

Players: Error, Hobbit

Comments: In a very unexpected request, Error wanted to start Sunday out with a bit of GTA V. We knew the scheduling on Sunday would be a bit bonkers as we had family and friends coming over later for a small gathering. We loaded it up and ran through 3 or so successful missions, before scheduling caught up and we had to call it for a bit to start prep for the gathering.
