Hobbit Plays News

Another weekend that was certainly a bit out of sorts. The majority of people in our house was either sick, or coming down with something as the weekend started. It put a damper on the weekend gaming plans for sure, although I did manage to get some gaming in with my wife earlier in the week before everyone came ‘Down with the Sickness’. I made attempts to see if I could stifle it myself. Even went to bed early on Wednesday to get some extra rest. By Thursday afternoon, though, the symptoms were setting in for me as well. I spent the better part of the weekend resting. Most nights by around 7:15 PM, everyone was already laying down trying to rest this monstrosity to an end. All that said, I did manage to make the best of the situation. At least as best as I had the energy for.

Comments: I started off Monday with my usual Summoners War shenanigans. Mostly just working through daily and event dailies, earning those resources & rewards. The siege started Monday afternoon, although it’s pretty rare I can get to that kind of content during work hours. Generally, I’ll hit stuff like that after work, no matter the day. I want to say our guild was paying dearly for winning all the previous weeks siege matches so I ended up holding out until Tuesday, although at this point, I really don’t recall.

Alas, given the inevitable drought of the sickness moving in, Summoners War was really the only game I managed to muster the energy for over the course of the majority of the weekend. During the day, as I felt up too it, I sat at my desk, mostly just looking over web stuff and YouTube videos. However typically after dinner, we were all heading to bed extremely early for our home and some weekend (or near weekend) evenings. I took a tablet to bed with me and played on that until I was finally sleepy enough to allow the rest to come while I watched videos, which I describe below. The weekend wasn’t a complete bust for me, albeit, just not my normal. I still managed to entertain myself a bit even given I was down and out.

Comments: My wife and I started out Monday evening with our adventures in Trine 4. We managed to complete Trine 4 during our gameplay session, which you can read about on this post, here, if you like. We both really enjoyed Trine 4, and were happy to mark another one of this marvelous series to complete. Trine offers quite a bit of beauty, combat, puzzles, and some amazing co-op gameplay considering it’s age!

Comments: I loaded up Trine 5: A Clockwork Conspiracy Monday evening, and my wife and I got a brief start to some adventures in Trine 5, before it was time to turn in for the evening. You can read more about the start here, should that suit you.

Tuesday evening, my wife and I continued with our adventures in Trine 5. Thus far we’ve certainly been enjoying the final game in this series (at least at the time of this post). The heroes of Trine are up against a very deceitful foe, it would seem. I should add, during the majority of gameplay, my wife prefers to be Zoya, while I rotate through uses with Amadeus and Pontius. This does vary of course in the event that we need one of the other heroes skill sets to aid one another in working through the stage. The series reminds me a lot of The Lost Vikings in some aspects. In any case it was an incredible series, and while it hasn’t replaced the love we have for It Takes Two!, it has certainly moved its way into our hearts!

Comments: Pacific Drive Series: On Friday, Saturday, and Sunday evenings, I should add that one of my favorite YouTube streamers and content creators provided me with some great entertainment while I was down and out. I rolled through some epic sized videos in a series somewhat new to his channel, called Pacific Drive. I linked the series for his channel there, should it peak your interests. I find the game in and of itself to be incredible. Sadly though, the game is a single player experience, and while I suspect I would love it, I just don’t have that kind of time available these days. I prefer to spend my time gaming with family and friends, as it were. I also suspect the game wouldn’t be for just anyone. I find it to be an amazing work of art, but the lack of viable combat would likely be a deterrent for many gamers out there. At least at the point of time I am in the series, combat doesn’t seem feasible. It could change as the series progresses, but I imagine it won’t given how far along J.C. currently is in the game.

Comments: On Saturday, during the earlier part of the afternoon, my son and I managed to get some time in Destiny 2. We did message Liquidd and Kilen, to see if they would like to join us, but alas Kilen was also sick, and Liquidd I found out later was tied up with family events. In the end, it was probably for the better, as my son and I only mustered the energy to get a part of the way through the Lightfall Campaign. We were trying to work a bit further into gaining Rank 7, but we both started feeling pretty rough, and called it just after both of us got caught up to the same point for the most part.
