With the Easter holiday, the schedule was certainly a bit out of sorts this weekend. This was topped with an affliction that hit our home on Sunday / Sunday evening where several of the clan started coming down with something monstrous .
Not to jinx myself, but as I finish up the draft I had ready for this week’s Hobbit Plays, I’m still currently good. Time will tell if I’m able to avoid the looming affliction or not as this week progresses into what will shape into the next Hobbit Plays post.
I am sad to report that I didn’t actually get any time in No Man’s Sky this week / weekend. Several of the gang (Eldon and Kilen) managed to play a bit. I believe I heard Eldon mention, he too, finally completed Expedition 18: Relics as the week was coming to a close.
The slew of Honorable mentions you see is a collection of what a good bit of the entire crew played over the week. That said, quite a few of them never really played with ‘us’ per se, but they still gamed. In the end, that’s really all that matters. As you can see by the list, several of them were quite literally all over the place in terms of game play! I have tried Once Human for a very brief period somewhat recently. At that time, no one seemed interested so I have since uninstalled it.
Game long my friends, game hard.

Highlights

Days played: Monday
Players: Qvaid, Hobbit
Comments: Qvaid and I picked back up where we left off in TMNT for some game time on Monday evening. We grinded through the content as we failed each run picking up the upgrades available via Dreamer or Dragon coins.
The plus there is we get stronger with almost every failure to some extent. The con being, well, you start over in the stages after every run.
I can appreciate that at least the stages differ somewhat during each run, and over all, the game is a lot of fun.
However, much like Qvaid, I can’t help but feel like a bit more balance would be nice and/or at least the option to pick back up on a boss you left off on or an area you failed on, etc…
The story at least appears to hold your progress, but in truth, we were more hopeful that the game would be something we could work through together in a progressive like mode as opposed to just a rogue-like experience.
Hopefully, Qvaid’s patience will hold up, and we’ll revisit the game once we finish up a recent delve we are taking back to Nikoderiko.
Only when the time comes will I likely find out if that is to be or not. I can’t say I’d blame her in any case, I mean it’s not typically the style of game play we seek.
Even still, regardless of the outcome, I have enjoyed what time we did spend wracking Footclan heads as the lean, green, fighting machines I watched so much of during my childhood.

Days played: Tuesday, Wednesday
Players: Qvaid, Hobbit
Comments: As I also mentioned in a recent post, here. VEA Games released the Director’s Cut of Nikoderiko: The Magical World on April, 15th.
Qvaid and I had noted that briefly during our play through and completion of the game, so I left it installed in case we had interest to revisit it once the content update dropped.
It turns out, Qvaid was excited to see what other adventures might await us in Nikoderiko, and so we placed our TMNT: Splintered Fate run on hold and decided to head back over to the spunky mongeese for some time again.
It turns out the new content is a new World in part, and there were quite a few keys and gems required to access some of these new areas.
As no strangers to this particular type of content lock, Qvaid and I started rolling back through the game collecting all the missed Letters, Keys, and Gems from each stage.
We finished up the evening on Thursday with all these items collected from every stage and world we had played in our first run, and even managed to complete two stages in the Secret World of new content.
We’ve certainly been having a good time and plenty of laughs in the entirety of the process. Even still we have all of the stages in the new world to complete, leaving us a bit more adventure left to come.

Days played: Friday, Saturday, Sunday
Players: Aces, Error, Kilen, Hobbit
Comments: As I probably mentioned before we have two campaigns going in Baldur’s Gate 3 at the moment.
A campaign with Error, Kilen, and myself for when Aces is not on or available, and a campaign in which all 4 of us are participating. As I understand it, Aces is also hosting a campaign where just Kilen and he is playing for when Error and/or I am not available.
Currently the two campaigns we are in together is a bit confusing as we are very close in our progress. Even still, we are managing it fairly well.
It has been a grand bit of fun and adventures at least in my opinion. The closest thing the majority of us have to a D&D campaign by far.
In both campaigns, we have a well rounded party. I’m playing a cleric in both. Error is playing a fighter in both. Kilen is a Wizard in the campaign of 3, and a rogue in the campaign of 4. Aces is playing a Wizard in that campaign. Everything is covered from damage, healing, to traps and locks.
We all hop into Discord when we are playing, and the humor, ribbing, and adventures have certainly been worth the return to the lands of Faerun (Forgotten Realms).
All of my game play has been with friends, so I’m not very versed in the story lines of the other NPC party members much. On both of our new campaigns, Error chose the Dark Urge, and it has added a bit of new dialect here and there with a new cut scene or so. That has been interesting, albeit, well dark of course.
I’m hopeful we can maintain a bit of the adventuring for some time. Error actually bought a new video card awhile back specifically for BG3 (at the time he was having issues running it in larger areas), and sadly the adventures ended before we could really flesh out the game we had going.

Days played: Sunday
Players: Eldon, Error, Kilen, Hobbit
Comments: Dying Light has certainly been an addition to our gaming repertoire that I certainly never anticipated.
For me, it is an incredible boost of fun, fear, and perhaps even a bit of anxiety. I’m reminded of the first run Kilen and I had through 7 Days to Die and just how terrified we were when we first started playing it.
The zombies in Dying Light are heavily attracted to excessive noise and commotions. If something blows up, they seem to pour in to investigate. Gun fire, well here comes a trove of undead. Too much commotion or time in a specific area seems to also draw their attention.
In truth, we are still very early on in the game, but I’ve enjoyed it never-the-less. We haven’t even experience a fraction of what I imagine the game has to offer.
One of the most interesting things I find is the ability to work through the campaign as a group, which seems a bit rare for games these days, especially so for more than 2 people.
We are currently playing through the game with Eldon (my brother), so the game play has been sporadic at best. His work life and schedule can keep him a bit too busy at times, but it’s always fun when he can manage the time and we all get together for a bit of adventure in any game!
Dying Light was certainly a great way to finish off the weekend in our evening bit of play on Sunday. It came to a bit of an early close as several of us had to call it to prep for the next week of work, right around the corner.
