Technically speaking, our gaming group starts off on Thursday evenings after work. As such, I’m going to start including Thursdays on the date ranges for my Hobbit Plays posts. I thought I might try a bit of a different manner in which to post it all as well. I’m not entirely sure, I’ll stick to it. Let’s see how it all goes.
In a somewhat surprising turn of events, we mixed up the gameplay fairly well on our sessions of this set. The variety was very nice to me, and still just an absolute incredible time! I love gaming! I love getting to play different games (even if it’s games I’ve already played, and even older games)!

Days played: All week
Players: Hobbit
Comments: Just a typical week of daily quests, event dailies, farming, and other SW shenanigans!

Days played: Thursday, Friday, Sunday
Players: Bubbles, Error, Kilen, Hobbit
Comments: We dragged this ole masterpiece out of the closet, and beat the dust off it! My son asked about the possibility of some L4D2 during an early morning gaming session that we do before work now and then. We took care to notify a few of our friends in the gaming group, in hopes that 1. They’d be willing, and 2. They’d load it up in preparation as well. After the work day concluded, the stars aligned and we started our Thursday evening with an attempt to play the Helms Deep -FIXED- mod, which ended horribly, and moved from there to base campaign survival maps to finish out the evening. Thursdays tend to be short sessions, because well, we all still got to work Friday! 🙂
We started Friday night off much the same, with some more L4D2 action. Again moving to the Survival Campaign modes for some quick gameplay. Mostly because we expected more to join, and given that L4D2 only supports up to 4 players, we didn’t want to attempt any campaigns at the time.
We picked back up with some L4D2 Sunday. My son noted he was missing a few achievements from the campaign. It appears he was missing two to be exact, although we are all still not sure how that even happened given the number of hours we put into the game in the past. In any case, we decided to hit Swap Fever for the run. Now imagine the irony of yet again completing that campaign, but… still not getting credit for it!? LOL, in an unfortunate turn of events, he went down as the boat arrived, as did I. We were swarmed by zombies and specials, and the timing kind of left us stuck there. We instead got the ‘In Memory of’ rolling credits as Kilen and Bubbles floated off on Virgil’s boat to safety. Ah, well, perhaps next gaming session, my son!

Days played: Friday
Players: Bubbles, Error, Iron, Kilen, Hobbit
Comments: Once we had that 5th member join Friday evening, we decided to move the gameplay over to some Hell Let Loose. I can not give this game enough credit. The experience is truly unique for a FPS based game. Everyone in our group that participates, seems to really enjoy some HLL. Now, it doesn’t come without some cons, the game is certainly difficult in its own right. The mechanics, the fact that you don’t even always know where the shot that took you down, or popped your head came from!? There can be some frustrating events. The community we’ve encountered thus far, the graphics, the gameplay, it more than makes up for it for us, and keeps us running back for more!

Days played: Friday, Saturday, Sunday
Players: Bubbles, Error, Kilen, Hobbit
Comments: (Friday) That’s right! 3 games in one night! Ye-YEAH BABY! One of the group had to call it after a great session of HLL, and the gang wanted to take the fight over to Project Zomboid. This is a fresh run, and we are definitely still in the early game, so the majority of the time was spent scavenging for supplies, fighting off zombies, and reading experience volumes to help with those skills! It was actually a gaming night that went a bit into the next morning, which has become a bit more rare for our group as of late. Even still, it was worth every lost minute of sleep!
Ironically, that 5th+ member never showed on Saturday, but the gang wanted to hop back over to the zombie apocalypse for some more shenanigans. Still quite a bit of ‘studying’ to be done for us, but we did make some very good progress. This particular run we opted to make the Firehouse in the south part of the map as our base of operations. Thus far, it has been working out fairly nicely! Given we effectively moved, we just grabbed some things of importance from the apartment we had beside the dinner, and loaded up in the vehicle we had procured and off we went. This also turned into a fairly long session, played long into the wee hours of the morning for the majority of us at least.
After the failed attempt to get my son’s Swamp Fever achievement in L4D2, we moved back to the um, other zombie apocalypse to progress our survivors a bit more. As is always the case for earlier game, still quite a bit more book reading, as we found new volumes we needed, or progressed skills to a point where we were ready for the next set of volumes. Quite a bit of scavenging, and some near death experiences as is quite easy to get into in PZ. We ended the day a bit later in the afternoon, as this Sunday was a shorter session, but still great, and over all a decent amount of time.
On a side note, we had some board game/family fun after dinner to finish out the weekend.

Days played: Saturday
Players: Bubbles, Error, Kilen, Hobbit
Comments: (Saturday) That’s right! We started the day out with some Helldivers 2 a bit early for my son and I! Soon to be followed by Bubbles! Kilen joined the frey shortly after, and we had a 4 man team diving from planet to planet destroying and fighting all manner of bugs and droids! I was very pleased with the session and managed to grind out some funds to upgrade some modules in my destroyer, purchase some new stratagems, and looked over the acquisitions (although, I don’t think I go to many of those on this go around). It was a long session all things considered, and mostly just having fun, biding our time to see if we got that 5th member to join and needed to move to a game that supports more people.
