Hobbit Plays News

Here we are at yet another amazing week of gaming! There was Outward, Return to Moria, The Quinfall, and even a pinch of Schedule I on the menu!

NXUS had to work this weekend, although I admit, it seems he hasn’t been interested in playing much of anything outside of Schedule I it seems.

I’ve been doing my best to juggle the daunting schedule of a Survival game, gaming with Qvaid, and the start of The Quinfall. Adding a MMO to that list of things has certainly been a challenging aspect to sort out. MMOS tend to take REAL time to make progress after all. And the grind in The Quinfall can be LEGENDARY!

The Honorable Mentions this week seemed to be a bit more broad than they have in the last few weeks. I suppose we have some people out there testing the waters again for something they want to play.

Several of us have been quite content with Return to Moria and The Quinfall, but alas, some of the games we like to play just are not for everyone. I have been nudging NXUS to give The Quinfall another chance, but he hasn’t quite seemed to take the bait just yet. I think he could enjoy the PVP aspect of it that we’ve all recently got into. Who knows, maybe he’ll come around at some point?

Game long, my friends. Game hard.

Highlights

Days played: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday

Players: Qvaid, Hobbit

Comments: It was quite the productive week for Qvaid and I in Outward. Even given that we didn’t get our usual Thursday evening session.

We worked our way through the completion of the Bloody Business side quest, numerous other quests, and mini dungeons in the Antique Plateau before deciding to start the glorious Rust & Vengeance quest line in Harmattan.

The start of our Rust & Vengeance quest in the Living Quarters and the Foundry was going really well!

We took a break to free Pholiota and have access to a merchant we haven’t really had access too much in Outward over all in our previous 4 runs.

In a bit of irony we almost were not able to free Pholiota as we were not quite sure if we had already killed the Kazite Lieutenant which guarded the Bandit Cage Key. Ultimately, we found the NPC, slayed him, and retrieved the needed item to complete our desired mission.

From there on Wednesday evening, we decided it was time to head over to the Warehouse. Even with the slew of Immaculate we faced off against, we managed to work our way through the dungeon to face off against the Golem!

And that my friends is where Qvaid and I were certainly humbled! That Golem put a beating on us several good times before we finally managed to take it down!

Still we ended the night and this week’s gaming sessions on a grand note. We had, after all, succeeded in our mission!

Days played: Thursday

Players: NXUS, Hobbit

Comments:NXUS was off on Thursday evening, and with Qvaid out of town for a bit, we decided to hop into Schedule I to continue the work on building the “Breaking Bad” Empire.

We made some decent progress, including expansion of our selection of products available.

Quite a bit of running around to gather equipment, supplies, and planning to get the operations started!

It was a decent gaming session to say the least. We worked on all the fore mentioned things until it was time for NXUS to call it for the night.

NXUS did manage a bit of game play here and there during the day, albeit, mostly just short stints before dinner and/or before he had to get ready to head off to work.

Days played: Friday

Players: Falken, Iron, Kilen, Hobbit

Comments: Thanks to Falken and his research, we managed to figure out what we needed to do to progress further into our campaign to reclaim the depths of Moria!

On Friday evening, Falken and Iron had materials gathered up ready for us to move on to face off against the Shadow Dragon!

I’m happy to say that once again, there were great dwarven meals, dwarven ale, dwarven beards, and dwarven women! Well, ok, maybe there wasn’t any dwaren women waiting back at the Kings Tomb for us, but there were certainly all of the other things!

It was indeed a fantastic adventure! We managed to defeat the dragon and progress the story line further. Kilen and I did have to craft the master work spears first, but as I mentioned above, Falken did a lot of leg work making sure the materials were waiting at the Mithril Forge, and if I know Iron, he likely helped gather those needed materials earlier in the week.

We were geared to the beards! Or teeth! Is it teeth? I mean beards could work… Anyway. As I said, we were victorious! We were all declared the Lords of Moria!

We finished out the night with a roll of the credits for Return to Moria, and a bit of some leg work afterwards to get the start of our company moving along. With approval from the Dwarven King Thorin we were granted the ability to have more dwarves in our company.

We placed the stone (perhaps not in the correct place), and after our both in game and in real life celebration, Falken and Iron retired for the night.

My thanks to the teams that worked on Return to Moria and the Durin’s Folk expansion. I’m curious what other adventures might lie ahead for our company in the near future!?

Days played: All Week

Players: Aces, Kilen, Hobbit

Comments: All of our group joined the ranks of Veydrin recently! We hang out in CH4 (PVP) for The Quinfall.

I’m here to say, the additional adventures they have provided has been an amazing time! The leadership of Veydrin has been fantastic and incredibly helpful to both new and returning players of The Quinfall!

Aces, Kilen, and I have progressed a tremendous amount in a very rapid pace all thanks to the work Veydrin put forth for us all.

They have been a great crew, and it has certainly put a new perspective for this ole Hobbit in terms of just what a MMO community can be.

In truth, it reminds me quite a bit of the time I spent in the early days of EverQuest! That, my friends, is a community I have yet to encounter again in any MMO to date. The Quinfall certainly has a feel of those ole times for me!

I have been having an absolute blast, even given the fact that I had to start over and work through all the grinding I had done previously. If I had to pin point the disappointment to any one thing, it would be the Legendary Horse I lost.

Otherwise, I’ve managed to get all my storage and inventory space back. I’ve got a bit of some encumbrance increased, and I’ve been laser focused on trying to get to 100.

The only unfortunate part for me, is I can’t really focus much on that on the week days. I’m mostly a weekend warrior these days.

I mean I play every day (or at least try), but the short stints before I start my work day, or the fact that it might be in the background is mostly just to do tasks the game allows, while briefly monitoring the progress as my scheduling allows. Fishing, caravans, things I can do without requiring a lot of my attention so I can focus on work.
