Expression Games had a news announcement this morning via their Discord server this morning. It was concerning an issue concerning Windows Defender brought to their attention over the course of the Holidays that probably led to a bit of concern from their gaming community, alongside some frustrations I suspect.
Should you want to take a gander at the official orders, Soldiers, you can march on over to their Steam Community Page, here.
It appears after a recent Windows Update that Windows Defender (the built-in antivirus software for Windows) was falsely flagging HLL and EAC (Easy Anti-Cheat) as possible malware and/or preventing the launch of one or both of the applications on devices.
Team17 and/or Expression Games is working with Microsoft to resolve the issues. Hopefully, there will be a resolution for all the HLL community and players soon.
Stay safe, soldier, and may God speed.

Happy New Year @HLL News
Happy New Year from everyone on the Hell Let Loose team at Team17 and Expression Games. We are super excited for the year ahead and what is coming up for Hell Let Loose.
Windows Defender False Positive Issue
Whilst we were away over the Christmas period, we became aware of an issue following a recent Microsoft Windows update that may cause Hell Let Loose to be incorrectly flagged by Windows Defender. This can prevent the game from launching or trigger security alert messages.
Please be assured that Hell Let Loose does not contain malware or viruses.
This is a false positive, and we are actively working with Microsoft to resolve it. Other games may also be affected by this Windows change.
Some players have resolved the issue by whitelisting Hell Let Loose and Easy Anti-Cheat files in Windows Defender or their antivirus software. These files are legitimate and safe.
A full post with step by step instructions on how to whitelist files can be found here: https://steamcommunity.com/app/686810/discussions/1/693123651146391555/
