GTA V: Retired

News

I’ve actually known about the changes to the Grand Theft Auto V anti-cheat for some time. Although in truth, I forgot to get back around to retiring the game on the site.

I no longer run Windows or have a drive setup with Windows of any sort at this point. With that in mind, I can no longer play GTA V or the upcoming GTA VI when it releases.

While I did enjoy the bit of game play Error and I had in GTA V, I don’t enjoy the game enough to warrant a Windows installation of any sort.

I don’t recall many patch posts for GTA V (if any) but obviously, there won’t be any need for me to keep an eye on them from this point forward. 😉

Effectively it falls into the same category for me as Destiny 2. It’s fun, but not fun enough for a company to dictate what operating system and system resources I allow said company to control on my devices. I’m a bit disappointed with Rockstar to say the least, but obviously I’m not their target demographic for games of this genre.

At the time of this post (unless something has changed), I can still play Red Dead Online. It hasn’t been adopted to the anti-cheat methods that Grand Theft Auto is moving too. That said, it has been awhile since anyone was interested in playing RDO, so I haven’t tested it lately. I’m hopeful given the lack of attention RDO gets, I’ll still be able to visit the Wild West a bit more before it succumbs to the tragedies that befell the later GTA series of games.

Fortunately for me, there are still a vast amount of games that are not following suit of some of these game publishers, and I still have plenty of options out there to bid my game time with.

Game long my friends, Game hard!
