In truth, my wife’s selection of this title had me in a bit of a shocked state. It’s technically a touch outside of the realm of what she would generally play, especially considering our previously played games. We were able to pick up Children of Morta and all the currently available content for it, for a very nice price on Steam during a sale. We loaded it up for our Tuesday evening gaming session, and were off! Thus far, it has certainly been a grand bit of fun. I will say the difficulty of the game has a bit higher bar than I initially expected. We spent the majority of Tuesday evening grinding the first dungeon, trying to get ‘powerful’ enough to progress with a bit less difficulty. It doesn’t help that she hasn’t played many games like this, and I’m certainly a bit rusty around the edges when it comes to ‘action-based rpg’ games myself. At several points in my life, ARPGs have been my favorite genre of games. I’ve played through quite a few of them as well. In any case, I’m certainly looking forward to some more adventures in Children of Morta during our gaming sessions. Thus far it seems to have a nice blend of story, character development, graphics, and gameplay. I’ve also went over the need to have to ‘grind’ out some levels and such here and there to my wife, so I’m hopeful it will keep her attention long enough for us to make the desired progression! We picked up two titles during that sale, so we should have at least enough to hold us off between those purchases and what we have in my library, until the start of the Steam Summer Sale on the 27th. 🙂
