Hobbit Plays News

Oh, what an absolute epic week of gaming! We had more people in Discord this week than we’ve had in some time, a variety of games, including my absolute favorite: No Man’s Sky!

Qvaid and I managed to complete a game this week, and moved on to the next in the series!

The NH and Honorary NH members still had a bit of a mix of Honorable mentions this week, albeit, perhaps a bit lighter than noted in previous weeks.

With my schedule last week, I admit, I did have a bit of trouble keeping up with what everyone else was into here and there.

I don’t know that I can put into words, how amazing it has been to have so much of the gang back! We were chatting it up in Discord, exploring the depths in Moria, and exploring the cosmos in No Man’s Sky! As much as I love No Man’s Sky, for me the absolute highlight of the week was just all the people we had together in Return to Moria at one time. The adventure was almost like a visual interpretation of D&D!

Exploring a realm that inspired the invention of D&D as a whole with all of us in our dwarven personas, eating cranberries, and roasted meat, while chugging brews before heading out to rush head long into forays of Orcs and other dangers that lay deep in the dark of Mora!

It was also great to have friends in channel just chatting about what they’ve been up too and life in general for those that were not really up to join us in our Return to Moria adventures! This Hobbit is literally in awe of the grand adventures we had!

Game long, my friends. Game hard.

Highlights

Days played: Monday, Tuesday

Players: Qvaid, Hobbit

Comments: Qvaid and I started the week on Cat Quest II as fire! By later Tuesday evening we had managed not only to complete our adventures as our cat & dog dou, we managed to 100% complete the game.

It was a fantastic set of adventures which sadly have come to a close. As the saying goes, “All good things must come to an end.” No worries though, we already have our next set of adventures picked out!

Days played: Monday

Players: Error, Hobbit

Comments: After the work day had come to a close, Error had a bit of time to spare before dinner. We hopped back into Schedule I and worked on several locations we were developing for manufacturing. We made decent progress, but over all it was a short session.

In truth it was mostly the odd weather we had this week that even allowed for Error to play a bit on Monday before dinner.

Days played: All week

Players: Kilen, SoSirius, Hobbit

Comments: While technically speaking, I played No Man’s Sky at least a little all week, the real adventures for Kilen, SoSirious, and myself were on Sunday.

SoSirius jumped on a bit later in the afternoon/early evening and the 3 of us joined up for a bit of questing and NMS shenanigans together!

I have been making an effort to play every chance I get, and I spend at least a little time each day working on either refining materials (mostly if I’m busy and can’t accomplish anything else), exploration (discovering fauna, flora, and minerals on planets), and fighting off pirates and sentinels as I move through the cosmos.

I admit, the majority of the combat stems from trying to take care of my settlements OR if I land on a planet with aggressive sentinels. I’ve just found it easier to deal with them when they find me rather than the run and hide method.

Days played: Wednesday, Thursday

Players: Qvaid, Hobbit

Comments: Qvaid and I got our start on Cat Quest III on Wednesday and Thursday evening. Over all the experience has been fairly similar to our adventures in Cat Quest III with some obvious differences.

Cat Quest III has more of a pirate like focus, which has been differ but enjoyable. Very similar mechanics made the transition from the previous game into Cat Quest III almost completely friction-less.

In this particular case, I’ve moved more towards magic, much like our adventures in Outward Definitive edition. The combination of Qvaid’s melee or range attacks with her gun and the magic just make it a bit easier over all.

With both of us standing or rushing to the fray it seemed we found ourselves in too many jams.

Much like Cat Quest II, Qvaid and I have definitely been enjoying all Cat Quest III has to offer, albeit, we are still quite a bit early into the adventures. Scheduling had us starting a bit later than normal last week so the overall time spent gaming was a bit less than we have grown accustomed too at this point.

Ah well, maybe this coming week will be a bit more calm!?

Days played: Friday, Saturday, Sunday

Players: Error, Falken, Iron, Kilen, Hobbit

Comments: My friends! The adventures in Return to Moria over the weekend were legend! It has been some time indeed since the crew has been this large!

Error, Falken, Iron, Kilen, and myself had some fantastic times exploring, building, gathering, and fighting off hordes of orcs and trolls in RtM!

RtM has some really interesting game mechanics with camaraderie! Evertyhing from meals, brews, cleansing shadow curse, and restoring ancient dwarven artifcats.

I love the singing and dancing it implements as a base mechanic. It is very evident that the developers behind this master piece are certainly fans of LotR and dwarves as a whole!

I did have to bounce out a bit earlier than intended on Sunday evening as the weekend had certainly caught up too me.

As I recall we left off with the start of a build of a new main base, likely to convert the previous as more or less of an outpost. I’m curious if they might make some progress on the over all build over the course of the week.

I’ll be busy with my gaming schedule with Qvaid, so I won’t be on from Monday – Thursday. I know Kilen was hard at it when I decided to call it later in the early evening on Sunday.
