On Tuesday evening (or perhaps early Wednesday morning 23rd or 24th), Qvaid and I managed to defeat the Prince and his cronies in ‘The Crown’ in Spells & Secrets!
With all 3 defensive wards (which increase the game’s difficulty, mind you), we triumphed. Technically speaking, we’ve also beat the game a second time at this point.
Currently our plan is to continue playing for a bit more, as there are students we would like to rescue, artifacts, and potions, etc… that we were hoping to find.
The depth of this little gem is quite impressive over all, and given its rogue-like nature, it some how still manage to keep Qvaid’s attention. I mention this because generally speaking, she is no very fond of rogue-ish game play.
All that said, Qvaid and I both have certainly enjoyed the adventures Spells & Secrets has to offer, and I’ll admit that I’ve been impressed with the fact that she enjoys it enough to keep playing after we’ve ‘technically’ completed the game.
The game has an over all beauty too it, with quite a few interesting game mechanics. The spell combinations are definitely a plus for me, as I do love to use levitate, telekinesis, and other utility spells quite often.
The combinations of spells with the artifacts can also make for some interesting runs. On the first attempt at the boss, I managed to some how end up with a combination that allowed me to channel Shield almost indefinitely. We tried to mimic this later on, but alas, it requires too many artifacts to achieve without quite a bit of luck.
On the second victory, we managed to take down the Prince without the use of that, cheesy combo. It certainly shed light to me on just how useful the Shield spell can be, however.
Stay safe out there my fellow Wizards and Witches and adventure well.
