LotR: RtM Hotfix 1.6.6

Games News

Free Range Games announced the release of Hotfix 1.6.6 for Return to Moria today via their Discord. I tried to track down another viable source for the patch notes, but alas, you’ll just have to take the word of one fellow dwarf to another, me friend!

I’ll admit, I’m a bit curious how the Durin’s Expansion has been going for everyone. Last I looked into a dedicated server situation for Lord of the Rings: Return to Moria, I seem to remember it was a bit of a mess. I’m hopeful that changed a good bit as well.

The little our group played, I was hosting the game. At one time, Aces, Error, Kilen, DNC, and myself were playing a bit. I’m not sure why, but it fell to the wayside fairly quickly. If I had to guess another game (or patch for a game) caught our attention, and we just never cycled back.

May you find all the gems and ore your heart desires, and may your cup of ale never run dry!

Fixes in this release

  • Fixed an issue where duplicate NPC dwarves would appear in their original spawn location in the world after being dismissed from a delving. This would cause several issues including performance problems and unusable NPC recruits
  • Improved various performance issues that caused framerates to be low in many instances caused by duplicate citizen dwarves
  • Improved issues that caused loading walls between areas to persist for long periods of time
  • Fixed an issue where using a mapstone to fast travel would sometimes cause long loading times
  • Fixed a PS5 issue where Gulrun’s textures wouldn’t properly load, causing the beast to appear white, and devoid of color

Note: In order to improve the performance drops seen in the last release, we made a difficult decision to roll back some of the improvements to NPC pathing. This means players will again see some previously fixed issues with NPC’s choice of path or falling through floors. We believe these will still be more rare than before but the trade off was the right decision.

Thank you to everyone who submitted tickets, logs and saves as well as answered the team’s Qs about your experiences with the above issues.
