Hobbit Plays: 09.29.25 – 10.05.25

Hobbit Plays News

Another great week of gaming for this Hobbit! There was not in the way of variety as Error never made it on. Even still, I still had a blast playing Dysmantle and The Quinfall!

Kilen and I just played The Quinfall over the weekend, although it wasn’t without some scheduling conflicts. Kilen had some work to do on Sunday, to prep for work being done on his house.

Between his schedule and some surprise company we had on Sunday, it turned out to be a bit of a wash for the gaming sessions. I mean, we both still gamed, we just didn’t catch each other on and game together on Sunday. No complaints though, I always enjoy getting to spend time with my kids and the grand kids!

Error and his family stopped in on Sunday (the company mentioned above). We spent a decent portion of the day outside with the grand kids running about the yard. The weather was kind of nice, which in our area is a real treat, so to speak. It’s usually either incredibly hot, or incredibly cold. Our fall lasts something like 3 days in the average year. We decided to take advantage of the nice weather, and quite a few of us along with the grand kids took a short walk with the dogs around the neighborhood.

On that note, Error only had the one day off that weekend, so he didn’t really make time to game, which I can certainly understand. I am both surprised and happy that he decided to spend his only off day for several more work days to come with us!

Once again, not a lot in the way on the Honorable Mentions this week. I suspect maybe Aces might be playing something he hasn’t mentioned, or not showing up in Steam. For example, perhaps some WoW or Diablo IV. Unfortunately, he wasn’t available for comment prior to bring this week’s Hobbit Plays to live. I have word that Falken might be giving The Quinfall a bit of a trial run, which has me fairly excited! I hope he enjoys it!

Game long, my friends. Game hard.

Highlights

Days played: Monday, Wednesday, Thursday

Players: Qvaid, Hobbit

Comments: Qvaid and I managed to finish up both train repair quests in Dysmantle on Monday. We also decided it was time to head into the Underworld!

Ironically, we took the um, long route because we forgot about the ‘Travel Far’ feature you can use from the towers. Ah well, the adventure finding the entrance and going back was still nice!

We ended the evening a bit later than we intended, but it was definitely some great fun!

Tuesday evening, we had to skip as Qvaid was with my sister doing some preparations for an upcoming craft show they are attending.

On Wednesday evening, Qvaid and I picked back up in the Underworld working on discovery and gathering resources. We did managed to complete a few quests, and left off on a bit of a larger quest there at the end as we finished out the evening gaming session.

Thursday evening was chalked full of progress for Qvaid and I in our adventures in the Underworld of Dysmantle! We continued work to destroy the relays, and managed to get it down to a single one so we can enter an area which we believe might be the finale of this expansion to Dysmantle! We pushed through the evening, until it was getting late, and actually managed to call it at a fairly decent time.

The over all week of our adventures in Dysmantle were fantastic! Looking forward to picking back up on Monday of next week if everything goes according to plan!

Days played: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday

Players: Kilen, Hobbit

Comments: More of the same early morning grinding in The Quinfall as has become my habit. In some cases, I leave the game up in the background auto-fishing after my work day begins.

On a positive note, there have been some updates recently that has added a bit of quality of life additions to this early access MMO.

I’ll also add that the decision to ditch the homestead (altar base) and move back into a city home has been an incredible relief for me. It is far more convenient to me to live in a town home in the city. Auction house is right at your finger tips, including while you are in your home, no gathering loads of materials to carry to town to sell in the auction house, all the vendors and wares are so readily available. Most importantly, no altar upkeep.

I can see the draw for players to want a homestead, and I can’t say it’s all beneficial. I’m starting to run low on crops as I cook up feed for my livestock for example. But at this stage of the game and with my current schedule, it is certainly nice not to have to worry about the semi-buggy altar upkeep!

Over the weekend, Kilen and I finally started hitting some dungeon runs again. It was freaking amazing! I did make a mistake on Friday night, and accidentally put us in one of the harder dungeons. We made it to the boss without much of a hitch, but ultimately we had to bow out on that attempt as we haven’t successfully completed that dungeon yet.

We’ve made progress, but that boss fight is quite a beast. I’m sure we’ll get it eventually, but we were running out of time in any case as the dungeons do have a set timer for completion.

That said, we managed to finish quite a few dungeon runs over the course of Friday and Saturday.

Kilen made level 75 and donned some near gear! This should make our dungeon runs all the more feasible as time moves forward.

On that note, The Quinfall has made quite a few quality of life changes for the player base over the course of patches mentioned in prior posts.

As with all new things, some were might with praise while others met with complaints. Thus far, Kilen and I have been fairly content with the changes, especially the addition to gear and weapons dropping in chests, boss fights, etc… It’s been extremely helpful for us to be able to gear up via other various methods while we continue to grind away at the trade skills and other aspects of the Quinfall!
