Hobbit Plays: 09.22.25 – 09.28.25

Hobbit Plays News

Ah, another week of gaming bliss! There was a bit of change to the schedules here and there. Error and the family stopped by twice on Saturday. Once on the way to a birthday party, and again on their way back through. It was certainly nice to spend time with the lot of them!

We pulled up the chairs outside in the shade and watched the grand kids run around the yard, with a bit of play with the pets here and there. The weather was almost perfect!

Sunday evening, we also had a visit from our Munchkin (Daughter)! She had dinner with us and we had a bit of a chat before she had to load up with my hammer and some left overs. I also enjoyed that very much as well.

Both our kids have moved out, so I cherish the moments they are able to stop by to pay their Hobbit father a visit!

All that said, the gaming for the week was still epic adventures! I really enjoyed the gaming sessions Qvaid and I shared in Dysmantle, and while Kilen and I only really grinded through gathering resources and leveling trade skills in The Quinfall, the move to a city and getting to leave the altar upkeep behind has been a blessing in disguise. I honestly wish, I would have done that weeks ago! It is just SO much more convenient to live in the town and not have to worry about the cost of keeping up your own homestead. I mean we can trade easier, because there is a banker near our house, and we can put things in the Clan Tab to swap back and forth, the Central Market (Auction House) can be used from inside your home even. Just so many more luxuries without the hassle of trying to keep up with the upkeep cost of an altar (which for me is really broken) in the game. I frequently put materials to last 11 days, but it burns far faster than the 11 days should for example.

There wasn’t a lot in the way of Honorable mentions this week. The majority of the group is still MIA, although we did have quite a few chats with several of the gang as they dropped in to chat in our Discord server. That was certainly still a nice way to spend the weekend while I was running around in The Quinfall gathering every resource I came across while sorting out the new life in the Town Home of Larcbost!

Days played: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday

Players: Qvaid, Hobbit

Comments: The week was off to a great start for Qvaid and I in Dysmantle. We left off last week having finally earning the key piece of gear we needed to explore other areas. On Monday evening, we put that gear to use and started visiting areas we could not enter previously!

We even see a quest reward for another piece of gear we’ve been trying to get since we started! Both of us are excited at the prospect of obtaining that! We did have to make some pit stops over to the lumber and steel mills to make some lumber, steel, and titanium for upgrades.

We ended the night with a slew of upgraded gear, even some in cases we don’t typically make use of. At least it will be there and ready for us if we do!

Qvaid and I managed to snag that piece of gear I mentioned on Tuesday evening during our session. It changes quite a bit in the game when you can wreck even more obstacles in your path. We are both fairly decent about raking in the experience by well, ‘Dysmantle’ing things! Needless to say the session on Tuesday evening was definitely epic and quite a bit of progress was held as we called it for the night!

Wednesday evening was once again an epic adventure for Qvaid and I. We crafted the Beam Gun, and managed to work our way through what turned out to be a portion of the Doomsday Expansion (#2) for Dysmantle. In earnest, we figured that out a bit early on, but Qvaid was happy with the adventures and didn’t want to leave, so we went with it.

We ended the night on a decent note with some upgrades after finding a material we had not come across before, although it looks like a decent portion of our gear requires a material from what we presume is in the expansion: Underword (#1) for Dysmantle. We’ll get to that part eventually!

On Thursday evening, Qvaid and I returned to the grand adventures we left off on previously. We were not quite finished with the content from the Doomsday expansion, but we found some other things we wanted to work on, and so we headed back to the Island to get a start back on some quests we left off on.

Over the course of the week we made quite a few levels in Dysmantle, gathered some gear we had not got yet, and also managed to get some of the materials we needed for some of the upgrades. We’ve maxed out quite a few upgrades on numerous tools, pets, hats, etc… It’s been a really amazing game and certainly some epic adventures so far. Looks like we have quite a bit more to come as Dysmantle is a fairly large world and we still have two expansions to explore. One of which we haven’t even set foot in just yet.

Days played: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday

Players: Kilen, Hobbit

Comments: I was able to get a bit of time in The Quinfall before the work day started on Monday morning, and a bit more in the afternoon after work, and before chores and dinner. It wasn’t much at all in the afternoon in all earnest.

I can’t vouch for the time played by Kilen on Monday, only that at various points of the day, I did note he was in game, and I know he is typically off on Mondays.

On Tuesday, my board quests were still off in timing in The Quinfall, so I skipped them completely on Tuesday to get them back in line. I generally only get to play before work on the weekdays, and with them starting so late it was throwing off my mojo quite a bit in the mornings. I made the mistake of picking them up out of habit later in the evening after work on Monday, but I don’t always get a chance to log back in on those days, so I thought it best to skip and let them go back to a time frame that works better for me.

The remainder of the week day sessions were mostly the same spill for me. Log in before my work day starts, work through board quests, and perhaps a bit of resource gathering before the work day starts. I did check the Central Market for items I was interested in, but given how early access the game is currently in, that is always more or less a crap shoot.

The weekend consisted of much more of the same for Kilen and I. Mostly grinding away in The Quinfall to gather resources for trade skills. I did divert some of my attention to running rifts, and leveled up the Mage/Staff weapon a bit. Nothing to crazy over all, but I’ve managed to go from 19 to something around 29 in a semi short amount of time.

Late Friday evening / early Saturday morning, I decided I was no longer interested in having my base and altar. I started the process of gathering all my things, purchased a house in Calmarnock, and started moving everything there. But the time I called it really, really early Saturday morning. I had almost the entirety of the move complete.

On Saturday morning, Kilen and I were both logged into The Quinfall again. I let Kilen know, I was done with the altar upkeep and what benefits (be it small) having your own base might offer. I told him where I moved too, which was the largest house I found so far in Calmarnock. I wasn’t thrilled about the way the house looked over all, but it had space, and a rickety stair case to reach the other floors.

Error and the family stopped by twice on Saturday, so I did have some extended afks from The Quinfall over the course of the day to spend with him and the family. It was certainly a nice way to spend a good portion of the day.

After the first visit, I hopped back on, and Kilen told me he found a larger house in Larcbost after a short bit of research. It was much better than the place I chose in Calmarnock! I decided I would hate the work, but after going over into Larcbost for a look on my own, I knew this would be the new place. Sleezel helped Kilen and I out with a bit of funding for our moving expenses, and we were both in the process of dumping the homesteads for town houses in a city!

Sometime late Saturday evening, Kilen and I both had the move completed, and were back on the grind of gathering resources and leveling trade skills. We ended the weekend with a bit more of the same.
