Hobbit Plays: 09.08.25 – 09.14.25

Hobbit Plays News

This week and weekend was a bit of an epic blur. There was an incredible variety of games to be played! One of the largest lists of High Lights I’ve done in a good bit as it were!

There was so much on the plate, it was just fantastic. And even better, I got to revisit those mining space dwarves in Deep Rock Galactic! There was gun fights, bug squishing, brews, and more importantly, Rock & Stone!

A bit of chatting via Discord, Steam, Text messages, and FaceBook Messenger. I even managed a bit of conversation with the mysterious and ever missing, SoSirius! I mean, it was mostly so he could insult me as usual, but even still I spoke with him!?

Alas, the vast majority of our once rather large group was missing per the typical status quo. Aces dropped by to chat for a bit, but he was playing either WoW or a single player game he loves a lot called Starfield. In the cases where we can’t all agree on something to play, the conversations are still very much appreciated by us all!

On a side note, I missed a few Honorable Mentions last week in my haste. I decided to label them as such and include them in this week’s Hobbit Plays post. Otherwise, I composed a list by creeping on my friends’ Steam profiles to get a bit of a better list for Honorable Mentions this week. Especially with the additions of some games I accidentally missed last week. Falken snuck a few games in at the end of the week which I admit, I had not anticipated and/or checked before the post.

All that said, the week was truly fantastic for me! Although, I have to say it felt like the weekend literally flew by. Here we are on a Monday again, the start of another work week. No complaints, mind you. I mean really, time waits for no one.

Game long my friends, Game hard!

Highlights

Days played: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday

Players: Qvaid, Hobbit

Comments: Qvaid and I started the week off by an attempt to complete as much of Revenge of the Savage Planet as possible. We got off to a rocky start, because we didn’t notice each area actually lists things you might be missing in the Kindex.

Sadly, we noted it as we were close to calling it for the night. Ah well, lesson learned. We are hopeful we might be able to speed that part of the process up at least!

Success! Qvaid and I managed to get all the scans done on Tuesday evening before calling it for the night. We currently have 40 of the 47 total achievements earned, and one final part to print for the Javelin which will provide us with one of those achievements.

I believe the plan is to see if we can push through for a 100% completion of Revenge of the Savage Planet!? I’m hopeful that we can manage it, although I know of at least one that is giving us trouble, and there are 2 hidden achievements we have to track down.

And 100% completion came to Qvaid and I on Wednesday evening! We did a bit of research as we were not sure how it would play out once we completed the game. I for one, did not want to be so close to 100% only to have it robbed in the final moments of completing the game.

We worked through the remainder of the achievements and then printed the last part required for the Javelin to make our way back home to Earth!

As the credits rolled we received the last achievement we needed and was awarded the 100% completion by Steam!

Such a fantastic set of adventures were held with this master piece of a game!

Days played: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday

Players: Kilen, Hobbit

Comments: As before, on the week days the majority of the time you see listed for Monday – Thursday was early morning gaming sessions before work. Mostly just gathering, Central Market, and trade skill shenanigans.

Kilen and I are fairly trade skill focused at the moment, so I suspect a good portion of our game play will be just that over the course of the next few weekends. With the exceptions of when Eldon joins us to do some dungeon crawls. Then again, Kilen (and myself) can be all over the place if I’m being entirely fair. So who knows, maybe there will be a bit more adventure in the weeks to come.

As it turned out, Eldon had other plans for this weekend and while he joined us here and there for some chatting in Discord or FB messenger, he never did set aside time to play any games with us. He did some auto fishing in The Quinfall a bit here and there, mostly while chatting.

Kilen and I continued in the never ending struggle of trade skills and gathering resources, and I finished up Sunday night by equipping the ‘Staff’ weapon and managed to complete the Rift Quest and gain a single level and roughly a half of the next in the weapon.

I’ve found the healing class in The Quinfall just isn’t quite as efficient for attempts to solo much. It can be done mind you, but the time involved to me, makes me feel like it isn’t quite worth the effort. Perhaps that could change if I invested some extra books, skill points, and time into the damage side of the class.

Ultimately though my goal for the class is the best heals I can get, so I think I’ve decided to just invest some time, books, and skill points into the Staff as scheduling allows, and save the resources for the Life Staff (healing class) to the healing side of the skill tree.

Days played: Wednesday, Thursday

Players: Qvaid, Hobbit

Comments: With Qvaid and I having completed our run through Revenge of the Savage Planet, it was time to decide on what game we would play next.

To my surprise, Qvaid suggested we pick back up on Dysmantle again. Mostly because, I admit, I thought the game might have been the reasoning for the bit of a break we took from May forward to binge watch shows.

At some point, I just convinced myself that maybe Qvaid like Dysmantle to start with, but perhaps the game mechanics were shaping up to be a bit too much. I mean there is quite a bit of a grind in the game after all.

Never the less, after some struggle we were able to get back into the swing of Dysmantle and we managed to progress a little bit over the course of what remained of Wednesday evening, and all of Thursday evening!

I’m happy to be back, and as far as I can tell, Qvaid is as well!

Days played: Saturday, Sunday

Players: Error, Kilen, Hobbit

Comments: In between bouts of The Quinfall and Deep Rock Galactic, the three of us had an itch to play some more R.E.P.O! It is such a fantastic game, I’m not sure why we can’t get more of the gang on board for it, but alas the three of us certainly enjoy it a lot.

Over the course of Saturday and Sunday, we did send invitations out to Aces and Eldon, but Aces wasn’t really interested, and Eldon had other things on his schedule and wasn’t able to join us for the most part.

Our previous weekends we made some progress and although we had several sessions of game play in R.E.P.O over the weekend, we never managed to get past the current stage we are on for these rounds.

As always though, it was fun of funs, laughs, and great times!

Days played: Saturday, Sunday

Players: Error, Kilen, Hobbit

Comments: On Saturday, Error was able to join us for a bit of gaming. At that particular time, Kilen hadn’t made it online, so we were going over some games we could play and after a bit of a discussion, we settled on some good ole DRG!

Kilen later joined us, and after we helped Error complete a pick mission, we moved on to what we believe is a mission for the current season. We worked on it together and I believe we got 3 of the 5 missions in total done before ultimately that gaming came to a close.

On that note, we did pause a time or so to play some R.E.P.O as well. Even still, I was certainly happy to be back in the space mines of my Dwarven gunner! ROCK & STONE!
