Star Trek Prodigy Supernova – Complete

News

Qvaid and I completed our play through of Star Trek Prodigy Supernova on Wednesday evening. In truth, we could have probably completed it much earlier had we just moved forward with the final stage of the game.

We decided to do a bit more back tracking on stages to collect materials to purchase all the remaining upgrades. As it turns out, that accomplishment grants an achievement!

We ended the run with roughly 24.9 hours of game play, and 37 of 41 achievements. Pretty close to a 100% complete. Ultimately though, that wasn’t our goal so after we beat the last boss and the credits rolled, we decided the adventure, while fun, had come to its end.

I should note, the over all time listed is a bit bloated. You can certainly finish the game in a much faster time. In some cases, we had situations where we had to AFK and left it at a dialog confirmation and/or some other various manner that doesn’t ‘pause’ the time. We don’t care about speed runs, per se, so the time isn’t really ever a concern for us.

Qvaid and I both enjoyed the game for all it had to offer. Plenty of action, some puzzles, humor, good graphics, ran great (even in Linux), and co-op play. There were some annoying features to be mentioned, such as the fact that you have to go through the story dialog in its entirety when back tracking through stages to collect resources and/or pick up missed items from the stages.

There was also a situation with the co-op controller situation where Qvaid would have to enter the game after certain load situations. Like when we would enter the ship or leave the ship, maybe even sometimes between stage loads. I’m not positive if that might be the default behavior, or something with the way the game runs in Linux though.

You don’t have to back track from what I’ve gathered, although some of the ‘upgrades’ are locked behind crew members that are not available earlier on. If you want to get those, you’ll have to suffer through the repeated dialog. To be fair though, you can just hit a button to skip past it for the most part. Some of the dialog can be a bit long. If you want a decent game to play co-op with someone, you don’t mind the Star Trek theme, and you enjoy a bit of puzzles mixed it, this game could certainly be a good fit.
