Hobbit Plays: 04.11.24 – 04.14.24

Hobbit Plays News

With the addition of a grandson to our family, things were quite a bit more hectic than usual for the last weekend gameplay recount. We still managed to get some gaming in, and all of those sessions were still an incredible amount of fun. As such though, there were definitely some changes to the schedule this week. Thursday probably being one of the more surprising changes for me.

Days played: All week

Players: Hobbit

Comments: To be fair, I play Summoners War: Sky Arena daily for the most part. The amount I play can vary, but it’s an idle game, so I tend to run it all day most of the time. I listed it on Thursday, because it’s basically the only game I played even late into the evening. My grandson was born on Thursday, and I managed a visit to the hospital to see him, my son, and our daughter-in-law. After that, I headed home, and pretty much finished out the day watching videos on youtube, internet shenanigans, and playing Summoners War. On a decent note, I made room for runes and artifacts (although the artifact room as always was short lived), and I believe I managed to build a few monsters as well. I always enjoy this game, and it is by far one of my favorite games.

Days played: Friday, Saturday

Players: Error, Kilen, Hobbit

Comments: Surprisingly, the family was all home by Friday evening. My son and I started Friday evening out with some Left 4 Dead 2. Mostly we were just trying to iron out a few achievements he somehow missed for the game, and we love the game so why not? As luck would have it, we tried to get them in a previous Hobbit Plays post, but he and I went down at the end of the campaign (Swamp Fever), and it eluded him. It also eluded him on this particular attempt, because we were having issues with performance in L4D2.

On Saturday, hoping the performance issues we ran into on the day before were over, my son and I hopped back into L4D2 after a few of those campaign achievements. We fired up a Swamp Fever campaign run, and everything was looking good. Sadly, the pings went through the roof again after just a short attempt, and we called it while we were chatting with Kilen in Discord. I was doing some research, and found that for some strange reason L4D2 is being DDoS attacked, which is not only affecting my son and I, but numerous people across the L4D2 community. We decided at this point, we’d place the game back on the burner and let all that resolve before making any further attempts. I admit, initially, I thought the recent patch might be the culprit with the official server performance.

Days played: Friday

Players: Error, Kilen, Hobbit

Comments: We needed to move to a game that wasn’t quite as intense on time. Basically PZ was the game we chose. My son was having to tend to his son, and while we don’t cheat in games per se. In PZ, we can put people to invisible and god mode when they need to have extended AFKs, etc… so we do make use of those features for that. This allowed several of us to continue the gaming adventures while my son helped his wife with the grandchildren. Ultimately, my son was exhausted and called it quite a bit earlier than usual for a Friday night. Kilen and I moved onto…

Days played: Friday, Saturday, Sunday

Players: Error, Kilen, Hobbit

Comments: After my son called it, Kilen had a hankering for some HLL matches. I was certainly up for it, so we moved back to the WWII warfare until early Saturday morning. Great times as always, although as I have mentioned numerous times. The challenges in HLL are certainly real. Certainly…real…

Kilen, Error, and I (Hobbit) dove back into some Hell Let Loose, and we pretty much played it on and off all day Saturday. There were some interruptions, of course, but over all we managed quite a few good games and sessions. (Note, that doesn’t mean we won all, or most. Just that we had fun. 🙂 )

Sundays tend to be one of our shorter gaming days, so we just jumped right into some HLL sessions and played those into the later part of the day. There were some breaks here and there as needed. I mean children need tended too, dogs need to go outside, people got to eat, and life has to happen. We played HLL as much as we could, until it was time to shift the attention to some family time. We finished out Sunday evening with a few games of Uno Mercy with the rest of the family, which was also a great time as well.
